The Autonomous Region performs both classic standards and modern arrangements of jazz favorites. Led by vocalist Caroline Cabading, this tradition-rooted ensemble also presents original compositions that fuse jazz with kulintang, a pre-colonial music of the Philippines.

Presenting Kul Jazz

Hot off the editing machine is this slideshow honoring the 1977 International Hotel Anti-Eviction Struggle that features new song selections, including in order of appearance: a traditional kulintang song, "Kasulampid", our first Kul Jazz tune, "The Birth of Kul", and Boy Palacio's arrangement for us of "Afro Blue".

Staying Awake and Protecting Sown Seeds

So much has happened to the Autonomous crew in just a week's time!

The Manilatown Jazz Scene


Our first performance of 2016 (January 31st)  was also the first  Club Mandalay PopUp jazz club of the year at the I-Hotel Center - and boy did we start the year off great with a packed house of familiar and new faces, new community connections and the honor of sharing the stage with seasoned professionals.
